Double Zero Octave
(C#00-B00) Super Sub Contra
We
wind F#0 strings in gauges ranging from .160
to .206. We also make C#0 strings ranging
from .184 to .230. When ordering a string,
such as a .206 for example, please indicate
the intended tuning for the string. This
will help us determine which type of .206 to
wind for you.
The
F#0 .206 will be "floppy" if tuned down to
C#0.
|
Finally, a "punchy" low C# string that doesn't flop the
fretboard!
.216 C#0 at 34"
(Listen to audio (aiff file)
If you listen
through a pair of good headphones or speakers, you will
be able to clearly identify the .216 tuned to C#0,
followed by G#0 played on the .140 string, and then C#1
played on a .110 string. This is not a performance. We
suggest listening to this short clip several times or
looping it. The OctaveZero strings have tonal
consistency and sound like they belong to the rest of
the string set. They do not sound like a "thud" with a
timbre that is not consistent with the rest of the
string set. This recording was made by plugging the bass
directly into a CD burner, proving that one does not
need a giant speaker cabinet to reproduce audible, pitch
specific sub contra ( octave zero) and super sub contra
( octave double zero) notes. These strings are playable,
and "pitch discernible" above the 12th fret. |

description: This is a
sequence of notes recorded all on the same bass. First
you will hear G#1 played at the 4th fret, E1, bass
guitar low E string at the 34" scale. Next you will hear
the same G#1, but at the 24th fret on the .262 G#00
string. Following this you will hear G#0 at the 12th
fret on the G#00 string, and finally the open G#00. The
bridge saddle was not adjusted for the .262, so the
intonation is not perfect. |

Skeleton Core ( per string)
$ 3.00
- These strings are made
with the Octave4Plus™ bass ball ends (patent
pending ).
- The core is not
twisted around the ball end to attach it to the
string, allowing
- for a thicker core and
eliminating the 5/8" twist next to the ball end.
